Obanda details a year of engaging with the global scholarly community across Africa, from in-person meetings to webinars. During these events, he not only discussed the importance of rich metadata and highlighted our GEM program, but also engaged in conversations about the challenges and ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive and interconnected academic world. It's also been a great opportunity for him to make connections with the Crossref Ambassadors in the region.

We renewed our partnership with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to further support under-resourced journals. The renewed focus includes making the metadata submission process for publishers, enhancing the indexing of journals, and broadening the reach and impact of these journals globally. This initiative underlines both organizations' commitment to making scholarly communication more equitable and accessible.
